Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information. The primary purpose of this position is to perform the security forces pass and identification function and related branch duties in support of an AFRC installation/wing.

Duties

Performs Identification Credential Function. Processes applications, prepares, and issues a variety of initial and replacement identification credentials to include identification cards, restricted area badges, and controlled area badges. Performs Vehicle Pass and Registration Function. Accomplishes the privately owned vehicle and firearms registration function for the installation/wing to include issuing vehicle passes. Accomplishes fingerprinting. Fingerprints personnel for identification purposes, to include personnel security actions and other official and authorized purposes. Provides assistance to the Branch Chief and performs other functions, as required. Provides assistance, information, expertise, updates, status briefs to supervisors, higher level employees, other security forces personnel, and other individuals and organizations, as required.

  • The incumbent’s regular assignments are primarily pass and identification duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some other security forces and organizational duties, as directed.
  • May be required to fly in military or other commercial aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Lautenberg Act of 1968: This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • This position is designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • As a mandatory requirement for employment in the TDP, the incumbent is (a) to refrain from use of illegal drugs and (b) if required, submit to urinalysis testing.
  • The selectee must sign statement acknowledging the PD occupied is TDP.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS Security Clerical and Assistance Series 0086. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes practical knowledge of standardized security methods, rules, regulations, and principles to provide support to security specialists in security administration; and perform nonstandard security assignments and resolve recurring problems. Knowledge of security procedures pertaining to handling and disposing of classified material, such as classification markings, accountability and control, declassification, and destruction procedures. OR EDUCATION: Applicants must have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a range of security specialties, concepts, principals, criteria, requirements, and practices. Knowledge of the AFRC overall and AFRC Security Forces missions, functions, and structure to the unit level. Ability to read and understand written and oral directives and guidance, and skill in oral and written communication methods and techniques at various levels and venues. Ability to effectively manage and organize various program activities and tasks, singularly and together, and familiar with administrative requirements of USAF and AFRC. Knowledge and ability to effectively utilize computer systems, programs, and products. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. Active duty members applying for a civil service position without submitting a valid certification memo or DD-Form 214 with their application will render the member ineligible for the position. The certification memo must originate from the member's military service branch on official letterhead and contain the following:
