Duties

Completing on-line lumber usage monthly reports, lumber receipts, cut/fabrication work orders. Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work. Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisors' instructions on work sequence procedures, methods, and deadlines. Designs, plans, builds, and constructs custom workbenches, tables, shelves, equipment cabinets, and countertops that have custom anti-static, static dissipative or conductive material applied to them. Sets up, writes programs, operates and maintains computer numerical control (CNC) machine to carry out work assignments. Works along with other workers, setting the pace. Operates an electric, diesel, or gasoline-powered forklift. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be cleared IAW requirements of AR-190-11, Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA and E).
  • Must meet the requirements for Wood Packaging Material (WPM) Program Site Custodian.
  • Must meet the requirements of AMCR-350-4, Training and Certification Program for personnel working in ammunition operations.
  • Subject to drug testing IAW AR-600-85.
  • Position requires annual physical examination.
  • Required to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a state driver license.
  • Required to successfully complete the "General Transportation of Hazardous Materials Course," MTMC II, and keep certification current IAW DOT Regulations, Title 49, and BOE-6000.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenburg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, posses, or receive firearms or ammunition.

Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentCarpentry/Woodworking Physical Efforts: Must independently lift large bulky and hard to grasp objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier objects with the assistance of other workers. May work in tight or cramped places in uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. Works while standing, sitting, or kneeling, requiring reaching, lifting, and bending while using hand tools and power tools. During forklift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. Outside exposure to heat and cold can be protected against by proper clothing. Inside work is usually in buildings adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Noise from hammers saws and other power shop tools is frequent. There is dust, and sometimes dirt, when repairing structures and operating power saws. Injuries may occur in lifting heavy pieces of lumber or equipment; cuts and bruises in using hand tools and equipment; more serious injuries in operating power tools.
