This position is located in the Public Affairs and Exhibits Office at the United States Mint at Denver. The purpose of the position is to perform work involved in establishing and maintaining communications between Federal agencies, the general public, and various pertinent publics including internal, external, foreign, or domestic audiences.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-9. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Participates in the planning, designing, developing, and disseminating of public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public about Departmental programs.
Develop and conduct presentations for the general public and community groups to include but not limited to on-site tours, presentations at schools and civic groups, as well as virtual and in-person events.
Respond, in oral and written form, to requests for information by determining the nature of the request and the data required.
Develop written material that transmits information concerning the nature and purpose of Departmental programs as well as items of concern to the general public or to special interest groups.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Be sure all experience is documented in your resume by indicating place of employment, job title, length of time performing the duties, and the name and contact information for the supervisor. For GS-09: Specialized experience is 1 year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as:
-Applying the principles and methods of written and oral communication; AND
-Experience with using online publishing software, social media or multimedia tools as communications strategies; AND
-Participating in conducing tours as a tour guide, planning, designing, developing, and disseminating public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
Specialized experience for the GS-07 is one year of experience at the GS-05 level or equivalent is defined as:
- Drafting, editing, scheduling, monitoring, and responding to social media posts; AND
- Writing articles; addressing customer service questions via phone and email
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: One full year of graduate level education OR Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class), grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major) OR Election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.

For the GS-05, you must have three years of general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service. General experience for this position includes:
-Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; AND
-Plan and organize work; AND
-Communicate effectively in-person and in writing.
OR
You may substitute education for general experience as follows: Completed 4 full years of education above high school leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-9 you must have been at the GS-7level for 52 weeks.

Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
