The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors and workers in accomplishing total aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, repair modification, jacking and total engine run of aircraft to an in-commission status (to include preflight) in an integrated maintenance environment.

Duties

- Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans and establishes long-range work requirements and schedules (typically 6 months or longer). - Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors. - Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with subordinate supervisors/employees in the development of performance plans. - Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. - Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • Normal duty days and hours will be Monday through Friday from 0630 to 1530. Member will be issued proper tools (computer/telephone/office supplies) to complete duties in line with his position description.
  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status
  • if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
  • Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
  • Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test.
  • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42,
  • Defense Continuity Programs. This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions.
  • Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • The employee must have a valid driver's license in order to perform regular and reoccurring duties.
  • This position requires Lead/ Supervisory duties.
  • Superior Quals may be considered.
  • Position may include incentive for prior work experience or active duty experience to determine leave accrual.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800, Aircraft Overhaul Family, General Aircraft Overhaul. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment. 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. 4. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. 5. Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
