About the Position: This position is located at Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virgina.

Duties

Serve as a technical advisor in the purchase of new medical equipment. Maintain equipment service history in the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) automated inventory system, to include opening and closing work requests, documenting services provided by vendors, and producing reports. Provide in-service training, presentation, and orientation on new equipment to customers and staff. Complete assigned preventative maintenance and rebuild of equipment. Utilize necessary references to gather and acquire repair parts for required maintenance. Assist in the development of preventative maintenance procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of medical equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 35 pounds is required.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal service which includes performing maintenance repairs of medical equipment, inspecting medical equipment to determine required current and preventive maintenance, and utilizing an automated inventory system database to order parts and maintain equipment records. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Cost Estimation and AnalysisPlanning and EvaluatingQuality Assurance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
