This National Guard position is for an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0876000 and is part of the FL AASF 2, National Guard.

Duties

As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-2604-11, you will troubleshoot, inspect, install, maintain, overhaul, repair, and modify complete operational systems consisting of numerous complex integral components. Examples of equipment worked on include: navigational radios, Doppler or inertial navigation systems, global positioning systems, automatic planning systems, night vision systems, targeting systems, communications radios, flight control and stabilization systems, weapons systems, aircraft survivability equipment, specialized mission equipment and similar electronic and navigational equipment. Complete operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of line replaceable unit (LRU). Isolate unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Solve problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Adjust and align sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Remove faulty LRUs for shop repair. Install serviceable components into aircraft. Accomplish technical manual compliance and modification of components and systems. Maintain, modify, calibrate and inspect a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Requirements

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. TEMPORARY PROMOTION - For Title 32 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in the Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 32 position once incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member, who has reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years, the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT- For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an on-board individual employed in the Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT- State National Guard Members (Not Current T5 or T32 Onboard) This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour), selectee will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment right to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted; E4 to E8. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-11 Must have at least 18 months experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
