Duties

This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) located in either Reston, VA or Boulder, CO. At the full performance level (ZP-4) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: The incumbent will serve as a Systems Administrator within the Office of the Chief Information Officer, IT Operations and Services Division and will perform the following duties: Provides systems administration and operations support of the IT infrastructure to include troubleshooting and resolving complex issues that may arise in the production environment and implementing enhancement to bolster the security posture to minimize security and operational risks to the IT infrastructure and services. Provides technical oversight, management, installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring and administration for the following systems: Microsoft Office 365 Suite of Services and Applications, Active Directory GPOs, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Cloud Services (Entra, Intune, & Virtual Machines), Commvault, NetApp, Servicenow, etc., following industry best practices and in accordance with established Federal, Department of Commerce, NTIA, and FirstNet Authority regulations and polices. Implements security hardening and applies patches to affected systems to remedy security and other vulnerabilities in accordance with IT security best practices. Serves as a subject matter expert on matters pertaining to computer, network and systems security, information and cyber security, general oversight and compliance. Monitors enterprise-level backup solution including installing client agents, verifying backup completion, verifying retention policies and data integrity, and configuring backup storage targets. Implements systems, network or security solutions that align with Trust Internet Connection 3.0, Zero-Trust Architecture and Cloud Access Security Broker. Documents and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Systems documentation, processes and procedures relating to Systems Operations. Performs routine performance monitoring, event log monitoring and maintenance tasks on servers using all available tools such as SolarWinds. Conducts daily health check monitoring of servers, virtualized environments, and the corporate domain. The FirstNet Authority has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Requirements AND (2) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying. AND (2) Specialized Experience To qualify for the ZP-IV (GS-13/14 equivalent), you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-III or GS-12 grade level in the federal service, or comparable experience not gained through federal service performing all of the following: Utilizing Microsoft Active Directory administrative tools to manage group policies and security groups. Managing cloud services to include any of the following: Software as a Service (SaaS) or Platform as a Service (PaaS) or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Managing Microsoft 365 solutions or Azure services. Managing virtual machines, storage, and backup and recovery solutions. MUST MEET ALL.
