THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1291000 and is part of the CO FMS 9, National Guard.
The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function.
Duties
Planning: Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.
Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
Administration: Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment.
Performs non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc. Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- For positions requiring the operation for motor vehicle, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Membership in the Colorado Army National Guard or eligible to transfer.
- Must hold the grade of E-8 thru O-2 or W-1 thru W-5.
- Submit all required documentation.
- Relocation Incentive is available for only current federal employees. Will need a current appraisal in good standing.
- Recruitment Incentive is for employees newly appointed to a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.
Qualifications
Military Grades: E-8 thru W-5, O-1 or O-2
Compatible Military Assignments: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, or 94 series MOS

Must have at least 36 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems.
2. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment.
3. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems.
4. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems.
5. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.
6. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.
7. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.
8. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
Relocation and Recruitment Incentives
Eligibility:
Recruitment-Employee newly appointedto a position or following a break in service of at least 90 days.
Relocation-Current employee who relocates to accept a position in a new geographic area. If you are eligible for a relocation incentive, the employee must have an appraisal from the prior with that's a 3 or higher.
Payments: Up to 25% of the annual rate of basic pay as of the beginning of the service period (includes locality pay/special rate supplement) multiplied by number of years (and fractions) covered by the service agreement. Subject to availability of funds and must be approved by TAG.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
