About the Position: The Corps of Engineers, Riverdale Office is one of two Field Offices on Lake Sakakawea. Lake Sakakawea is 160 miles long, and was created with the Garrison Dam on the Missouri River. Riverdale is the Project Office Headquarters is located 60 miles south of Minot, ND and 65 miles north of Bismarck, ND on scenic bluffs overlooking beautiful Lake Sakakawea. Residents and visitors alike take advantage of the outstanding fishing, hunting and boating opportunities.

Duties

Primary purpose of this position is to perform office automation work, including word processing and a variety of clerical functions in support of the organization's mission functions. Use the full range of functions, including advanced processes, of one or more word processing software and/or desktop publishing applications to produce a variety of documents. Use various functions of other software types such as calendars, electronic mail, spreadsheets or graphics. Provide clerical support to ensure efficient office operations. Receive phone calls, review correspondences, maintain office supplies, update and maintain automated databases, prepare time and attendance using automated program. Work in a team environment and with a wide variety of people including the public. Appropriate communication skills are essential for this job.

  • Incumbent may be required to travel/perform Temporary Duty (TDY) 5% of the time.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing word processing software to create and format documents, correspondence, and reports. AND 2) performing clerical duties such as receiving phone calls, visitor assistance, and maintaining office supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.
