This position is located at US Mint,Mint-Phi/Man/Design and Engraving Div. As an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, you will be carrying out duties in connection with repairing, installing, troubleshooting, disassembling/assembling automatic or semi-automatic machines and other equipment: metal forming (coining) presses, upset & edge lettering mills, coin destruction equipment, burnishing equipment, blanking presses, hubbing presses, etc.
Duties
As an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, you will:
Serve as a member of the trial strike evaluation committee and lends assistance to assessing overall coin-ability and quality.
Apply specialized skills, methods, procedures, & techniques required in the operation of a number of automatic or semi-automatic machines and other equipment used to manufacture coins & medals: Schuler & Graebener coin presses, Schuler upset & edge lettering mills, Kusters coin destruction machine, Spaleck burnishing equipment, S&K hubbing presses, etc.
Collect and analyze technical equipment operating data to determine; (a) if maintenance procedures are correct; (b) if information obtained indicates equipment is beyond economical repair, recommends disposal of the unserviceable unit; and, (c) develop repair schedules and requests for immediate repair, if required.
Interface with Division technical staff on design related issues as well as Die Manufacturing division production staff on production handoff & training, facilitate tool path file transfer from PC's to networked laser equipment, perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, as well as schedule PM's, and develop operation/maintenance procedures.
Organize work, set priorities, determine resource requirements, determine short or long term goals and strategies to achieve them, coordinate with other organizations or parts of organizations, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.

Specialized Experience for the GS-12 - Specialized experience is one year of experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent in other public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Providing technical, electrical, and mechanical support in the design, development and implementation of manufacturing equipment and manufacturing process improvements.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
