Duties
Monitor environmental compliance by utilizing automated tools to identify the federal, state requirements of the environmental programs.
Assist in the execution of local, state and federal environmental laws, policies and procedures such as the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; Pollution Prevention Act; Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Safe Drinking Water Act.
Collects and track technical data and maintaining the records of laboratory documents on how sample were handled as needed to comply with regulatory permit conditions in order to meet compliance requirements.
Respond to and provides basic guidance for cleanup of petroleum, chemical and wastewater spills. Is responsible for instrumentation and software to analyze and collect the samples including but not limited to Petroleum Oil and Lubrication.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Tier 1 NACI Background is required throughout the appointment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's license to perform the duties of this position.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical, annually thereafter.
- Position required random drug testing.
- Employee will be on weekly rotational standby duty and be on-call.
- Employee must possess, or obtain and maintain a class B Commercial Driver's License with a Hazardous Material Endorsement.
- Employee must possess, or obtain and maintain Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Certification.
- Employee must possess, or obtain and maintain Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Certification.
- Employee must possess, or obtain and maintain Department of Transportation Certification.

Specialized Experience; Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 position in the federal service which includes the following. Perform work to ensure environmental compliance using automated systems for things such as water samples, oils and fluids. Provide research and information to ensure the organizations meets environmental local, state and federal laws, policies and procedures. Assist in responding to and finding guidance to petroleum, chemical and wastewater spills.
