Duties

Performs repair work on a variety of gas and diesel power equipment including gas powered rental golf cars, multi-gang mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in the daily maintenance of a golf course. Diagnoses malfunctions of equipment to determine the source of trouble, extent of repairs required, and the tools and parts necessary to successfully make repairs. Performs major overhaul of both small and large engines by disassembling, fitting needed parts, reassembling, testing, and adjusting as required. Determines requirement and orders necessary parts, tools, and other repair equipment through supervisor. Keeps accurate record of all preventative and routine maintenance and repair work accomplished. Establishes and maintains part accountability records. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Must be willing and able to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to make repairs where parts worked on are in hard to reach places. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• A pre-employment occupational physical is required for this position.
• Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Must have the knowledge required to diagnose and determine source of malfunctions and the skill to make necessary repairs to a variety of Turf related equipment and hydraulic drive motors, their components, and electrical systems. Must have the knowledge of the assembly, disassembly, operation and installation of all parts and components of both gasonline and diesel driven specialized golf grounds maintenance equipment. Must be able to read and interpret a variety of manufacturer's manuals and parts listings. Must have the knowledge and skill necessary to make fabrication repairs to equipment to include using a torch and welding.
