This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Industrial Operations Division (IOD), Industrial Production Branch, Elizabeth City, NC.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to prepare various surfaces including aluminum, fiberglass, steel, composites, and other surfaces for painting by removing grease, paint, rust, slag, scale, carbon deposits, etc. to prescribed surface preparation standards.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. - U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Position is subject to overtime or recall.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position is subject to medical monitoring program
- Rotating shift work may be required.
Qualifications
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability To Do The Work Of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element).
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Operation of Sandblasting equipment.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprinting reading).
Use of Measuring Instruments.
Dexterity and Safety.
