Duties
Serves as a technical expert for end-user management efforts for DLA users at all CONUS sites.
Provides multi-media support services and end user hardware support services to multiple DLA organizations within the CONUS Area of Responsibility.
Configures, deploys, tests and repairs hardware for end-user use including CPUs, monitors, laptop computers, local printers, network printers, local and network scanners, and other hardware devices.
Maintains local systems and provides on-site support for (but not limited to) RFID, wireless, and Equipment Control System (ECS).
Researches and evaluates hardware and peripheral devices for use in the End User Computing (EUC) environment.
Exercises control over the project activities and the project resources drawn from such technical specialties as Information Assurance, systems administration, application development and environment management.
Follows DLA Information Assurance (IA) procedures covered by enterprise policies to ensure existing systems (HW/SW) are reliable and accessible to the end user only to prevent and guard against unauthorized access to DLA network and data.
Diagnoses and resolves complex problems (Tier 2 Help Desk tickets) involving IT hardware anywhere the user may be located on or off the installation.

Qualifications
To qualify for an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT), your qualifications must include:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in- grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Participates in IT program development and planning, deployment of new initiatives, and other programs to promote customer relations; Researches and analyzes statistical data in various systems and prepares comprehensive reports reflecting IT patterns, diagnostics, problems, and remedial action.
- Provides advice and assistance to customers and troubleshoot complex problems.
- Maintains local systems and provides on-site support for (but not limited to) RFID, wireless, and Equipment Control System (ECS).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
