This vacancy is being filled via the Direct-Hire Authority (DHA) for a Computer Scientist position at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Computer Scientist, 1550-13, FPL GS-13 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Architect, design, develop, test, and deploy Machine Learning based
code.
Research, document, prototype, and develop standards for Machine
Learning techniques, tools, and architectural solutions for Economic
data processing.
Communicate with stakeholders, data analysts, and development
teams to understand requirements and formulate plans and solutions
for applying Machine Learning to improve and enhance new
operationalized applications and business processes.

Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
AND
Specialized experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes designing and testing Machine Learning code; researching/implementation of emerging Machine Learning technologies and standards; operationalizing Machine learning code into production applications; collaborating with stakeholders to ensure software engineering standards are assimilated into business practices; and evaluating policies and practices related to analysis, design, development, and testing.
Education: Education cannot be used to substitute experience.
