This position is part of the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management - National Energy Technology Laboratory, Department of Energy. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will be providing expert advice to management on the formulation, implementation and communication of DOE policy and information to a wide variety of audiences.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 4 of the following: Leading and managing the daily activities of the Communications & Public Affairs Team. Documenting and overseeing development of media and public information products on a variety of NETL topics. Managing the NETL intranet and creating internal communications plans and overseeing development of products on a variety of NETL topics. Maintaining the currency of emergency Public Information (EPI) regulations and guidance. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 2 of 4 of the following: Serving as a subject matter expert in leading and managing the daily activities of the Communications & Public Affairs Team. Designing and implementation of communication strategies for Presidential, Departmental, and NETL major initiatives. Researching material for use in preparing accurate communication products. Overseeing and working with subject matter experts to develop and disseminate local and regional media advisories and news releases about NETL programs. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
