About the Position: Incumbent will provide therapeutic services in an office/hospital setting at NH Jax for patients with various mental disorders per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders 5th Edition. Duty hours are 0730-1600. May be asked to stand mental health consultation call for one week every two months. Will be asked to provide input on duty status determinations and provide command consultations.

Duties

Psychological and therapeutic services for active-duty patients with mental disorders; fitness for duty evaluations to determine duty status. Screens and interviews patients, and performs psychological and bio-psychosocial evaluations, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to clinical psychology. Provides timely and succinct feedback to Primary Care Managers (PCMs) regarding consultations findings and recommendations. Uses objective and measurable outcomes to evaluate treatment effectiveness and makes adjustments if appropriate for increased compliance and efficacy. Develops, teaches, and provides oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health, and promote behavioral change related to improved health status.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
