Duties

As a Communications Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Serve as the senior communications specialist ensuring effective communications, media relations, and public engagements to advance the goals and objectives of the department. Plan, develop, and execute the office internal communications to facilitate employee engagement and compliance with policies and procedures. Develop and implement the communication plans, strategies, campaigns, and outreach projects to convey an organization's priorities and increase awareness of the organization/s science, research, and policy. Oversee all external communications product development to ensure quality and consistency of messages.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: To qualify at the ZA-4 (GS-13/14) level: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-3 (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: Establishing and maintaining communications between the organization, universities, and other government agencies; Constructing and publishing material to appear in publications, reports, periodicals, and audio-visual productions; and Developing and implementing solutions to resolve complex problems, conflicts or issues affecting processes, and seeks improvement to increase the effectiveness of communications and outreach activities.
