This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Springfield, Virginia.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to assign and finalize written materials, which may include, but need not be limited to: executive correspondence, briefing materials, reports, GAO/OIG audits, and testimony and Questions for the Record (QFRs) prepared by OCIO
and other offices, organizations, and Components to ensure that the information is consistent and accurately describes the Department's position on strategic program matters and agency operations.
Duties performed:
Present and explain program requirements and recommendations for changes in correspondence procedures and policies, and to make recommendations to enhance the quality of correspondence.
Facilitate and assess timely, accurate responses to a wide range of correspondence, and inclusions of pertinent background materials.
Writing to review drafts of proposed responses to correspondence.
Coordinate with program managers and administrative staff members of the agency so program activities reflect current trends and accurate information.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
GS-12: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
Reviewing productivity in all assigned areas of correspondence.
Building relationships with internal and external contacts to ensure requests for information are assigned.
Preparing written material in a clear, concise, comprehensive manner for readers who do not have technical knowledge; and
Determining the appropriateness of materials to develops appropriate responses.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).
