You will serve as a VICTIM ADVOCATE (FAP) in the Family Readiness Division, Fleet and Family Support Program of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BETHESDA.

Duties

You will serve as Victim Advocate for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). You will conduct education classes for Family Support Groups and the community on the prevention of domestic abuse. You will screen victims of domestic abuse, evaluate their needs, and provide them with information about domestic violence, safe, and confidential ways to seek assistance. You will provide child focused advocacy and support services to parents of children involved in cases of Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children and Youth.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• The incumbent must meet the qualification requirements for FAP Victim Advocates described in 32 CFR Part 61, Subpart B "FAP Standards".

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assist in providing child advocacy, crisis intervention, carrying-out safety planning and procedures, and completing and issuing civilian and military orders of protection. 2) Advising on laws pertaining to family relationships and communications with lawyers, court officials, etc. 3) Independently plan, implement, and administer victim advocacy services and actives. 4) Familiar with using Microsoft Office Suite and Fleet and Family Support Management Information System (FFSMIS). Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

or

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
