The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as the Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM AC ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating and delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.
Duties
Serves as an expert analyst in human protections program compliance/protocols.
Coordinates with the Human Protections Director in the development, update and execution of policies and procedures related to the mgmt and processes related to the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), and the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Processes the pre-review of projects, tests plans, research determinations of exempt status, and human subject research protocols.
Provides guidance and functional expertise to investigators on the organization’s Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) processes related to submission documentation and routine research matters.
Performs an analysis of process time-line and workload data for use by various officials to facilitate the processing of human subject research protocols from receipt to approval.
Oversees the timely processing, logging, tracking, and/or review of human research protocols with Institutional Review Board (IRB) committee members and other administrative offices to enhance HRPP processes to effectively utilize resources.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Coordinating the daily operation of a Human Research Protections Program's projects and research protocols 2) Advising on human protections topics to include; protection of private, personal, and health information and regulatory interpretation and compliance; and 3) Managing administrative and scientific operations such as; education and training; quality assurance, and human protections policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-02 (GS-11)).
