Serves as a professional staff member of the Revenue Estimates and Economic Analysis Section with responsibility for planning and conducting an integrated program of studies oriented toward providing OASDHI revenue projections and related measures. Responsible for producing economic and Social Security program-specific variables in their assigned areas on which the revenue projections are based.

Duties

Plans and conducts an integrated program of economic studies from which econometric models used to produce projections are constructed, in the areas of labor force, employment, average and total wages, taxable earnings, and tax collections. Maintains the econometric models in a current state by altering equations based on actual experience, keeping data used in the models up to date, and re-estimating/ re-specifying individual equations or entire equation systems, as may be required. Participates in the development of broad economic assumptions for the Trustees' Reports. Evaluates outside econometric forecasts for usefulness to the Section's work. In the areas assigned, determines the general structure and specific methods by which economic and program specific variables used in the projections are estimated.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience MUST include work that involves: Conducting projects using econometric modeling software and economic statistics/principles to develop economic forecasts. In addition to the specialized experience above, applicants MUST meet one of the following individual occupation requirements: Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus plus appropriate experience or additional education. Combining Education and Experience: Experience and education as described above may be combined to meet the minimum qualification requirements. Experience and education will be computed as percentages of the overall requirements and must equal to 100 percent when combined.

Note: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school you attended has determined to represent one year of study. If this information cannot be obtained from your school, we will consider 18 semester/27 quarter hours to be equal to one year of full-time study.
