At Veterans Affairs Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS), the incumbent works directly with Diagnostic Imaging Technologist and Radiologist by preparing examination rooms in all sections of the Service and working directly with patients which includes transporting in-patients to and from various destinations. The incumbent als assists the technologist and radiologist in te preparation and completion of the imaging examinations.

Receive and direct patients and secure patient confidence/cooperation; and

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/14/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Experience and Education.
Experience. One year of experience in a health care field that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work such as but not limited to a health technician. OR,
Education. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended NOTE: If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position. (When crediting education, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.) OR,
Experience/Education Combination. Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable. Examples are listed below:
(a) Six months of experience in the health care field and two years of education above high school that included at least six semester hours in health care related courses such as, biological science, surgical technician courses, nursing assistant or other courses related to the position; or an associate's degree in a health care related field; or,
(b) Six months of experience in the health care field and successful completion of a course for health care technicians, hospital corpsmen, or medical service specialists given by the U.S. Armed Forces.
Physical Requirements. The work requires frequent pushing of patients in wheelchairs and gurneys, standing walking, bending, lifting, and carrying light items. the work requires above average agility and dexterity. the work may require occasional lifting of heavy equipment and patients.
English Language Proficiency. A candidate will not be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. chapters 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS. In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates.
Health Technician (Radiology) GS-6 (Full Performance Level)
Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
Preferred Experience:
Experience transporting patients from the Nursing Units, Emergency Department, and Community Living Center. Performing warm hand-off when patient is transferred to another Healthcare worker.
Experience assisting with lifting, positioning, and transporting patients out of beds, wheelchairs, and gurneys.
Competently don and doff PPE ensuring Infection Control and CDC standards are met.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology
Ability to meet needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Experience using computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Working knowledge of CPRS.

Assignment. This is considered the full performance level for this assignment.
