You will serve as a Training Instructor (Crane Operator) in the Lifting and Handling Department of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).

Duties

You will conduct need assessments and task analyses to determine learning objectives. You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives. You will be responsible for improving and modifying the training for assigned courses. You will conduct training and assess progress of students in meeting desired objectives, including advising and assisting them to improve their performance. You will prepare and maintain training records, progress reports, qualifications, and other documentation as required to certify worker qualifications for audit and historical purposes. You will develop and administer written and practical examinations.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This may be a bargaining unit position.
• This position may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• You may be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing course materials and providing classroom instruction in the practical application of trades theories, practices and technical requirements in addition to determining instructional approach and developing student evaluations in support of lifting and handling equipment maintenance, overhaul, and operations. For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector participating in the development, evaluation, or modification of training materials (e.g., course outline, course content, lesson plans, exercises, examinations) and providing classroom instruction in support of lifting and handling equipment maintenance, overhaul, and operations.
