You will serve as a Material Examiner and Identifier in the Supply Department of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF).

Duties

You will identify, sort, and determine the physical condition of hazards, non-hazardous materials, and equipment. You will inspect hazardous and non-hazardous material and advise movement of materials for storage. You will conduct complex searches of records, equipment specifications, and manufacturer manuals for identifications and specialized procedures. You will compare contracts to verify specified quantities, and the physical and mechanical condition of materials and equipment. You will visually inspect materials and equipment for leakage, corrosion, packaging, and expiration dates. You will accept or reject materials and equipment. You will coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift license.
