The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is seeking a highly qualified candidate for an intermittent Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technician (MRI) position in Wichita Kansas.

Perform general diagnostic radiography to include, but not limited to, diagnostic x-rays of all body regions, bone-length examinations, bone surveys, general fluoroscopic examinations, both in an outpatient clinic setting and in the operating room environment (C-Arm). The incumbent must be an ARRT registered technologist in radiography (R) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Individuals appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. chapters 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA must be proficient in written and spoken English. Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Advanced Certification: AdvancedARRT certification is required for assignments that include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE). A transcript/certification must be submitted with your application. GS-09 Grade Determinations: Experience: At least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following knowledge, skill, and ability (KSA)s: a) Ability to balance the needs of patients and staff while still performing complex scans and procedures. b) Knowledge of techniques for gathering relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and health care providers. c) Ability to assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure. d) Knowledge of basic first aid and basic life support practices related to radiography. e) Knowledge of physical assessment, aseptic techniques, intravenous methods and techniques and universal precautions. f) Knowledge of pre-procedural, procedural, and post-procedural care of patients. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-09. Physical Requirements: Lifting (15 lbs. and over); carrying (up to 20 lbs.); pulling and pushing (up to 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; standing and walking (up to 3 hours); bending (up to 1 hour); use of fingers/hands; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13 - 16"; hearing (aide permitted).
