Duties
Assists Contract Specialists by performing support functions such as editing pre-award and post-award documents, maintaining information in the automated system, extracting Procurement data, and generating reports.
Reviews purchase orders and product history, performs market research, identifies potential vendors, and creates solicitation and amendment documents.
Prepares/issues modifications to effect contract changes such as extensions of delivery schedules, clarification of specifications and minor waivers.
Investigates customer and vendor complaints; resolves conventional problems through reconciliation and records search.
Assists Procurement Analysts/Acquisition Specialists by performing specific portions of studies relating to clerical and technical processes.
Performs assignments preparing recurring and special reports and compiling statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation and development of new formats.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Procurement Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Performing procurement clerical tasks in support of pre- and post-award functions
Determining adequacy and completeness of contract files
Experience with procurement regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to both pre-award and post-award procurement functions
Experience with automated procurement systems
Experience assembling, reviewing, and maintaining procurement files related to complex contracts
Experience with contract clauses and laws
Experience monitoring contractor compliance with contract requirements
Experience preparing documents such as abstracts, delivery orders, etc.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
