About the Position: The Directorate of Human Resources provides the installation community with essential support services to enhance the quality of life for those who work, live, and raise families on post and in the surrounding communities.

Duties

Serve as a Human Resource Specialist in the Military Personnel Division Transition Center. Manage the out-processing of Army retiring Soldiers and Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) counseling, Retiree SBP changes, and SBP processing for Army retiring Soldiers. Monitor the updates of the Integrated Personnel and Pay system (IPPS-A). Serve as authentication authority of all Transition documents. Assist in adjustments to workload and aids in making changes in assignments to accommodate changes in workload and staff resources. Prepare retirement orders, associated documents, and the Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214) for review by retiring soldiers and authentication by reviewing official.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position may require the employee to occasionally work after hours and/or weekends.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Provide customer service to military service members and retirees; (2) Enter and retrieve information from military HR systems; AND (3) Develop solutions or make recommendations to problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources Management OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityComputer LiteracyCustomer ServiceProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
