The position is located in the Chinle Service Unit, Pinon Health Center, Clinical Services, Primary Care Services, Pinon, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Teen Clinic Technician to assist with direct patient care and perform specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.
Duties
Performs direct patient care procedures and provides care under the direction of a licensed provider.
Carries out waived testing in clinic (e.g. glucometer testing, HgbA1c, U/A dips, etc).
Gives injections such as immunizations, antibiotics or Depo-Provera.
Assists in ordering laboratory and X-rays.
Uses routine specialized procedures of venipuncture, injections, electrocardiogram and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
Patient education; teach and advise patients on specific medical issues within established parameters.
Performs general nondirect patient care duties including cleaning, organizing, restocking supply, cleaning and sorting supplies, instruments, equipment, refrigerator and maintains a clean and safe environment.
Schedules and monitor patient appointments, coordinate office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.

Education: For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-05 - Use of electronic health records; taking patients' vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen, temperature, weight, height); completing an EKG; GS-06 - use of electronic health records, taking patients' vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen, temperature, weight, height), giving immunizations and injections, making appointments, educating patients about immunizations.

Do you have a Medical Assistant Certificate from a certified agency training institute such as American Association of Medical Assistants or similar registered credential?
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
GS-05: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
GS-06: Generally, not applicable
This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
