Duties
Responsible for managing the audit workload including assigning and tracking auditor requests across SCA; reviewing responses for completeness and accuracy; coordinating with Audit Support and other offices.
Assisting in developing corrective action plans; coordinating and developing audit walkthroughs; developing and submitting audit assertion packages; and briefing SCA leadership on audit work.
Participates in decision-making sessions and provides guidance on all aspects of the audit work and completing deliverables to managers and team members and ensures standardization in preparing deliverables across teams consistent with DFAS guidance.
Provides professional accounting advice in connection with audit requests, audit findings and recommendations, corrective actions, and organizational audit objectives.
Leads efforts independently or as part of a team to assist in the implementation of new procedures or policies to ensure compliance with established financial accounting requirements.
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates processes for effectiveness and efficiency with policies and audit guidelines making recommendations as needed to meet agency and customer strategic objectives.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify for this position you must meet one of the basic requirements described below:
(1) Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. OR
(2) Candidates may also qualify through a combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses, which may include up to 6 hours of business law, OR a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as: Providing professional accounting services managing the overall audit functions for the organization at the directorate level; Independently applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to evaluate audit requests, responses and findings; Interpret accounting data, financial statements and reports, processes, accounting/financial systems, and effectiveness of internal controls in support of audit requirements and deliverables; AND Providing technical accounting expertise to assist in the completion of audit deliverables, reports, walkthroughs, and corrective action plan development.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.
