About the Position: Serves as a Purchasing Agent assigned to the Contracting Division responsible for the procurement of commercial and specialized items and services above the micropurchase threshold and below the legal review threshold in support of operation, maintenance, and construction activities for the Omaha District.
Duties
Purchases supplies and materials to include, but not limited to, commercial and non-commercial products (e.g., copiers, furniture, safety equipment, industrial equipment, etc.).
Examines requisitions for availability of funds, adequacy of the scope of work or product description, and propriety of purchase utilizing knowledge of Federal Regulations, policies, and directives.
Reviews completed official contract files to determine that all contractual actions are satisfied, that there are no pending administrative actions to resolve, and that the contract is complete in every respect prior to closing.
Keeps abreast of new and changing procurement information from regulator guidance, policies, supervisory information, and vendor information.
Uses a personnel computer with acquisition specific programs to create contractual documents; spreadsheets and word processing software to prepare support documentation together with other automated or on-line tools.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience monitoring funds and overseeing contract requirements; AND 2) Experience with regulations as it pertains to purchasing of items such as equipment, supplies, and services with credit card or contract. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
