About the Position: This position is located at the Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, PA. Position is within Family Medicine. This position is a Supervisory Nurse, overseeing the nursing services in the ambulatory clinic. Incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Provide a full range of supervisory duties to include personnel and resource management. Provide input regarding organization, structural or content changes throughout the ambulatory care centers, services, and clinics in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Responsible for the day to day management of assigned nursing personnel within the health clinic. Participate in meetings/activities to enhance the quality of management practices, policy definition, procedures, and programs. Provide care coordination activities internally within the accountable care organization and externally with civilian and military medical facilities.

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position may have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Position may be designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • One year supervisory probationary period required. A one year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.

Basic Requirement for Nurse (Administration/Ambulatory): Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. (Note: You must attach a copy of your current licensure.). Foreign Degree: Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have completed the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools Certification Program. The certification program consists of a credentials evaluation, the CGFNS Qualifying Exam, and evidence of passing one of the approved English Language Proficiency examinations. A copy of the CGFNS Certificate is required. Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Professional Nursing Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes providing comprehensive nursing care to patients; providing education or training to nursing staff; and evaluating nursing staff performance. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
