This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Base Boston, Naval Engineering Support Unit Boston, Industrial Production Branch in South Portland, Maine.

Duties

You will be responsible for utilizing the knowledge and application of trade and labor work and skill and knowledge in supervising subordinate workers.Being a coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member for the Coast Guard team:Typical work assignments include:- Managing all aspects of work assignments, developing methods for project execution, establishing standards, and reviewing work for quality and timeliness in meeting scheduled completion dates.- Estimating labor hours required by various trades, material costs and equipment requirements for projects.- Determining needs for commercially subcontracted portions of projects and developing scope of work and obtaining quotes for subcontracts. - Establishing deadlines, priorities, and work sequences and coordinating projects with other supervisors, other CG organizations and customers, and with subcontractors.- Supervising, coordinating and inspecting work of subordinates.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:* Ability to lead or supervise (SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT)* Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc* Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)* Use of Measuring Instruments* Ability to interpret Instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)* Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.* Knowledge of MaterialsNational Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement. If you are including education on your resume, report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
