This position will be assigned to the Parr and Kendrick Club at JBSA Randolph. This is a Regular Part-Time Category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs/week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.

Duties

To assist the caterer in the arrangements for catering activities (i.e. banquets, parties, receptions, luncheons and other special activities) requiring food and beverage service catered by the club. Responsible for assisting caterer in directing the work of waiters and other staff engaged in food service duties in the club dining room and banquet operations. Ensures that staff performs duties in accordance with prescribed standards of service, personal appearance, behavior, uniform and sanitation. Assists the caterer in scheduling personnel and assigning work. Responsible for demonstrating proper work methods and techniques; promotes teamwork; encourages staff to follow management instructions and take pride in organizational objectives. Works with other employees or alone in setting up banquet rooms for dinners, cocktail receptions, meetings, or other special function requests. Provides services as required for special functions. Assists the caterer in obtaining pertinent information from member host, such as number of guests expected, seating arrangements, decorations, music/entertainment desires, food menu and beverage requirements, and prices. Assists the caterer in drawing up special function contracts, obtaining member's signature and providing this information to different departments as required. Assists in the planning of special membership affairs and menu development. Responsible for assisting the caterer in supervising and training of 10-20 employees. Works under the supervision of the club caterer. Performs other duties assigned. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handler's certification, within specified time from date of hire or assignment to position.
  • The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement.

Qualifying Experience: Must possess a working knowledge of proper food and beverage serving techniques. Must have some knowledge of banquet service to large groups of people and have an understanding of military protocol and rank structure pertaining to order of service and serving techniques. Must maintain a neat and clean appearance commensurate to this high visibility position. Must have working knowledge of computers and Windows based programs. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to assist in planning and organizing functions for large groups of people. 2. Ability to lead subordinates in achieving a common goal. 3. Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external customers. 4.
