This part-time position is located in the Hartford Field Office, 135 High Street, Suite 101, Hartford, CT 06103.
Duties
Serves as the primary advisor to the District Manager on administrative matters and serves as office expert in day-to-day administrative management services essential for the efficient operation of the office. These services include serving as the DM's confidential assistant for labor relations and personnel matters as well as aspects of budget execution, personnel administration, procurement and supply, contract administration, travel, payroll services, reports management, facility management, etc., and the incumbent performs staff support work in each of these areas. Also spends at least 25% of the time providing technical operational or systems administration support to the office.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-8, applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-7 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience should demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations or procedures, answer technical questions, present information orally, and identify and/or correct problems in the following areas: administrative functions involving human resources, budget, purchasing supplies, time and attendance, etc.; or operation of automated office systems in order to detect problems and taking action to resolve the problems; or claims related functions (e.g., providing information or instructions regarding benefits and claims status).
In addition, all applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute (WPM). Applicants must indicate their ability to type 40 WPM on their supporting documentation.
Note: Part-time work is prorated in crediting experience (e.g., if you work 20 hours per week for a 12-month period), you will be credited with 6 months of experience.
