About the Position: This position is located with the 56th Medical Group is located on Luke Air Force Base, Maricopa County, Arizona. It is the largest fighter wing in the U.S. Air Force and a major training base of the Air Education and Training Command. The nearest two communities to Luke are the city of Surprise and the town of Litchfield Park. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation under DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

Duties

Resolve complex TRICARE and Line of Duty medical claim disputes on behalf of TRICARE beneficiaries. Determine the eligibility of patients and obtain authorizations to facilitate claims processing. Monitor Debt Collection Assistance Coordinator programs to ensure efficiency and efficacy of programs. Evaluate the overall debt collection assistance program to ensure resolution of claims disputes. Establish processes and implement policies associated with managed health care for the beneficiary population and the medical treatment facility. Assist the Contracting Officers Technical Representative with analyzing and evaluating data from workload, personnel and fiscal resources for reporting purposes.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Health System Administration Series 0671 A. An undergraduate and graduate level education with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or a related field, such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR B. Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. OR C. Special Provision for Inservice Placement: Successful completion of an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program may be substituted for qualifying experience, provided it included a formal individualized training plan. Such a training program must have been conducted in an operating health care system and included: 1) Assignments providing a knowledge of basic health system administration philosophies, practices, and procedures, and basic government administrative policies and requirements; 2) Practical assignments providing an opportunity to apply health system administration skills and principles (as the individual progresses, work assignments must be characteristic of the grade level to which he or she is assigned); and 3) Oversight by an experienced health system administrator with periodic evaluation of the individual's progress and appropriate adjustment of the training program. In addition to meeting one of the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating efficiency and/or processes of health care delivery systems/programs to optimize facility resources in the areas of beneficiary services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Health, Allied Sciences, Hospital Administration, Public Health Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
