This position is located in the Argicultural Research Service (ARS), Field Organization, Plains Area (PA), US Meat Animal Reserach Center in Clay Center, NE.

Duties

Maintains and records supply of specialized items such as envelopes, copier paper, and custodial supplies and ensures these items are stocked at a level to maintain the required inventory. Provides mail pickup and delivery service and messenger service, operates postage meter in readying outgoing mail, and distributes incoming mail. Receives shipments for all activities at the Clay Center Location. Notes overages, shortage, or any damages incurred in shipping; and prepares and submits reports as required. Deals with vendors on matters related to credit card and Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) purchases, including purchases related to technical, mechanical, automotive, agricultural, clerical, etc., supplies. Coordinates with requisitioners and administrative staff and expedites delivery of urgently required items.

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Specialized Experience:Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-05 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-04 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience maintaining an inventory of supplies; receiving shipments for an office; and distributing and delivering incoming mail. OR Education: Successful completion of 4 years of study above high school level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR A combination of education and experience as described above. Physical Demands: The work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and recurring lifting of moderately heavy shipments of up to 50 pounds. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
