The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Maintenance Operation Controller, in conjunction with the Production Superintendent (Pro Super), to assign priorities to aircraft production efforts, to direct action to resolve resources shortages, to maintain liaison among aircraft maintenance management, and to provide training to Air Force personnel.
Duties
Provides both present and projected status information to prescribed managerial personnel.
Notes projected completion date, studies actual aircraft status and informs higher levels within chain of command when aircraft is to be mission ready.
Through the use of radio, telephone, intercom, e-mail, personal contact with production supervisors, technicians, review of work documents and statistical listings, determines status of aircraft.
As daily events occur, maintains MIS data integrity regarding maintenance flying schedule requirements and accomplishes aircraft debriefing to ensure malfunctions identified by aircrews are properly reported and documented.
Maintains liaison with the Maintenance Coordinating Function (MCF) of the Command Post and conducts training and skill level progression of Air Force Personnel.

- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions (Cont.)
- IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs. This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes working with recurring manufacture, overhaul, or repair of products or projects using multiple-process production methods and procedures to develop plans and information necessary for the control of complex products such as airframes of fixed and rotary wing aircraft or a variety of complex and long-term facility repair and construction projects.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to plan, schedule, and take correction action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements. Knowledge of assigned equipment.
2. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing technology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and maintaining effective follow-up.
3. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance of work. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to ensure continuing availability of material requirement.
4. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspections, repair, modification, and supply processes.
5. Skill in effective written and oral communication, knowledge of total quality management methodology, tools, and techniques; and ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability.
6. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems (MIS) and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
