United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Dairy Program, Federal Milk Market Administrator falls under the Excepted Service. This position will be filled in the 1146 Marketing Specialist series.

Duties

As the Marketing Specialist in this position, you will: Input information related to dairy processing and payments to farmers. Analyze dairy reports for accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations. Generate and maintain internal reports of statistical material. Assist in the collection, preparation, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of dairy related statistics including prices, milk production, and utilization, and draw appropriate conclusions. Internally coordinate industry contact modifications and communicate necessary adjustments to Federal Order staff. Act as a liaison between the dairy industry and the Market Administrator's office concerning reported information NOTE: This position falls under pay bands MA 10-22. Selectee's pay will be set between the MA 11-12 pay bands based on years of education and/or experience.

  • The selectee's pay will be set between pay bands MA 11-12

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application. MA 11-12 Education: Must have a bachelor's degree in marketing, economics, business administration, agriculture, agricultural economics, agricultural business, accounting, statistics, mathematics, or dairy science. OR Professional Experience Qualification Requirements: Have the appropriate years of general experience required for the grade level as follows: MA 11- 2½ years; MA-12-3 years. General experience is any progressively responsible experience in one or more aspects of agricultural marketing functions such as distribution, inspection, storage, transportation, merchandising, standardizing etc. The duties and responsibilities should have equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the grade level of the position to be filled Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer or unpaid experience: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
