You will serve as a AIRCRAFT FREIGHT LOADER SUPERVISOR in the AIR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL AIR STATION WHIDBEY ISLAND.

Duties

You will comply with established guidelines and instructions (e.g., safety guidelines, equipment use, security requirements, DOD regulations and policies) for loading or unloading aircraft. You will explain emergency safety instructions while fuels personnel fuel or defuel aircraft. You will inspect outgoing palletized cargo to verify pallets are within size limits. You will position cargo based on destination and priority of shipment. You will plan work according to predetermined priorities to most effectively use personnel and equipment.

Required to crouch, stoop, climb, and use arms overhead to direct aircraft. Incumbent must have good, quick body movements when assisting with handling aircraft and related GSE/MHE. Must follow safety regulations and use safety equipment to avoid possible hazards to self and in the work area. Position can be stressful due to meeting critical mission timelines. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed outside with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. Additionally, passenger terminal services are normally performed inside the terminal at counter facilities/office. On the job hazards include extreme noise, jet intakes and exhausts, propellers, blades, possible fuel/aircraft fires, falls while working on aircraft, etc. Must adhere to all safety procedures, includes wearing the required Personal Property Equipment (PPE). Participation in NAVOSH Hearing Conservation Program required. NAS Whidbey Island Air Terminal is a 24 hour / 7 day per week operation; hence, incumbent may be required to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime. This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
