Duties
The purpose of this position is to manage logistics functions in support of the Comptroller services including shipping and receiving, property, port services, vehicle management and mail services for the Logistics Division located in Newport, RI.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: -Overseeing and managing all logistics services such as shipping and receiving, management of government property, management of controlled inventory, management of government owned and leased vehicles, mail services, and port services Cutters. - Providing direction to military and civilian personnel assigned to the division and coordination of various activities. - Evaluating, analyzing and modifying existing methods, procedures, policies, and reporting requirements. - Serving as the primary property officer, overseeing the proper disposition of property that is excess, abandoned, beyond it useful service life, unserviceable, lost, or stolen. - Managing shipping, receiving and warehousing operations, including personnel supervision and compliance with regulatory procedures. - Planning, directing, coordinating, reviewing, and evaluating Base Motor Fleet programs. - Arranging shore support services for ships moored, including hotel services. - Providing technical and administrative supervision to the workforce.

Qualifications
AT THE GS-11: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Some examples of specialized experience includes: Managing logistics services such as: shipping and receiving, property, port services, vehicle management, and mail services; revising integrated logistics support management documents; evaluating integrated logistic support programs; and performing supervisory duties. OR at least one of the following if using education to qualify at this grade level: (A) a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR (B) 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
