The Smithsonian Institution (SI) is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is responsible for ecological and environmental research education.
Duties
The Biological Science Technician is responsible for a broad range of tasks associated with collection, management, outreach, and curation of scientific data and samples from ecological systems.

Qualifications
GS-09 Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as 1) experience supporting an environmental science research program, including collecting and processing soil and water samples in field and laboratory environments and 2) experience operating and maintaining analytical equipment, curating, and analyzing data, coordinating laboratory logistics, and executing multi-phase projects.
OR
Two full years of graduate education or a master’s degree meets the requirements for GS-9.
