The Hearing Office Director (HOD) serves as the principal management adviser to the Hearing Office Chief Administrative Law Judge (HOCALJ) and participates significantly with the HOCALJ in the overall management and administration of the office. The HOD is responsible for administering the hearings level of claims processing for all programs of the Social Security Administration and also for the Health Care Financing Administration within a large designated service area. The HOD provides first and second line supervision for the employees with the assistance of two or more subordinate supervisors.

Qualifications
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include, as a practicing attorney, reviewing claims under Titles II, XVI, and/or XVIII of the Social Security Act; planning, directing, reviewing and/or supervising the work of others; communicating orally and in writing with a variety of contacts in governmental and non-governmental organizations; conducting studies and preparing analysis or evaluations relating to management, organizational issues, administrative systems, or operating procedures; writing policies or procedures relating to government programs.
