The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing gardening and ground maintenance (trades and labor) work.

- Subject to shift work and emergency overtime
- Physical Effort: Requires .lifting up to 75 pounds. Requires frequent walking, standing, pushing of carts wheelbarrows, bending and stooping for long periods of time. Occasionally climbs ladders to trim vegetation and frequently lifts heavy objects
- such as bags of fertilizer or grass seed. Motor vehicle operations require frequent bending, reaching, turning, twisting, movement of hands and arms feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Moderate physical effort is required in making
- couplings between vehicles and towed equipment, safety chains, tow bars, and hooks must be lifted and properly secured. Tractor operations require additional effort in operating equipment controls making repeated arm, hand, leg and foot movements.
- Considerable strain is caused by constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces
- Working Conditions: The employee works outside in all kinds of weather frequently exposed to dust and dirt, high heat and humidity, cold and rain. Works near moving parts of machinery and equipment.
- Regular exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls and possible injury form equipment. Required to wear protective equipment to include but not limited to steel toe boots, gloves, hard hats and other appropriate protective clothing.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
