You will serve as a CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL SPECIALIST in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will provide support to internal and external personnel to accomplish technical, detailed support and procure materials and services for the maintenance, repair and operation of equipment and facilities. You will evaluate the condition of facilities and equipment and determine the total maintenance, improvement requirements and if replacement is needed. You will review job orders, instructions, drawings, sketches and material request forms (MRF) to determine material and equipment required. You will maintain surveillance on the status of all job orders to completion, prepare reports of specific schedules, and log man hours to repair assets. You will prepare and process material requisitions and material request forms and orders.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CLASS C license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Evaluating the condition of facilities and equipment and determine total maintenance and improvement requirements and if replacement is needed; 2) Gathering information, investigating and analyzing data to make recommendations to management about deficiencies and processes; 3) Performing actions to provide construction material, transportation equipment, tools and support services (contractors) to coincide with the sequenced shop schedules; 4) Preparing and processing material requisitions and material request forms and orders, and prepare purchase requests within IT systems (i.e. - Maximo, 11M, and Purchase Place); 5) Conducting reviews and evaluations of requested materials and provide validation of key work order, financial and material description information during purchase request creation; 6) Advising production controllers and job supervisors of any material or informal contract support problems that will delay completion of scheduled tasks. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

You have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
You have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
OR
You have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.
OR
You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. If you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you must submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.
