This ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST is located in the Environmental Management function at ARNG/ANG bases and is part of the CA 1106 TASMG.

Duties

THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST, GS-0028-11, is to serves as the installation environmental program manager, providing expert technical advice directly to the Commander on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Installation Restoration Program (IRP), Air Space, Hazardous Waste and various other environmental programs. Represents the commander at various installation environmental meetings to ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and federal, state, and local statutes. Serves as the single point of contact for the initiation, development, and execution of all environmental activities and development of installation regulatory guidance. Accomplishes long range base planning of environmental programs.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST, GS-0028-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by: Experience demonstrating knowledge of environmental issues, problems and solutions regarding federal, state, rural and community environmental regulations. Experience in program planning or administration concerned with environmental protection or other activities related to environmental problems. Experience in an advisory or research capacity involving the creation of solutions to problems concerning environmental protection or other related activities. Experience using on-site investigation techniques, analysis of results and development of conclusions to insure conformance to environmental regulations. Education
