This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory Auditor(Performance), you will support the Director in the daily operations of the office and keeps the Director informed and current on the status of all open audits and projects and otherwise serves as an advocate for proper and full oversight of all audits.

As a Supervisory Auditor (Performance), you will:

  • Must obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
  • The position is a Drug Testing Designated position and is subject to preemployment and random drug testing.
  • Will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.

Qualifications

Individual Occupational Requirement/Positive Education requirement (Auditing series 0511): Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration, or accounting; OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A. Certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; OR B. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours. Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Have at least one year of specialized Auditor (Performance) experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service applying advanced auditing principles, concepts, practices, analytical methods and techniques, and experience in providing policy direction for the audit program and operations within assigned Department. Specific experience must reflect all of the following: 1) Brief the senior leader on the status of all open audits and projects to serve as an advocate for proper and full oversight of all audits; 2) Identify management and operational problems/issues/inconsistencies and their root cause in a timely manner to recommend corrective actions identifying the need to establish and modify policies, procedures, or techniques; and 3) Assign and review work to monitor progress ensuring work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality are met. Accreditation:
Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience, if applicable. For additional info, refer to the Office of Personnel Management and U.S. Department of Education.

Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
