The primary purpose of this position is to monitor and schedule required training through Training Support System (TSS), both classroom and computer based, to include health and safety programs and physicals, and input data into Production Acceptance Certification (PAC). Incumbent also performs full tasks/duties of a journeyman Shot Pending Machine Operator.

Duties

Assists immediate supervisors in the identification, development and execution of task specific training for proficiency required for Production Acceptance Certification. Monitors, schedules, enters employee training through Training Support System (TSS), and tracks employee task certifications in PAC to inform supervisor of manpower capability. Incumbent performs duties of shot peening machine operator. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations, and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Works with hazardous and/or generates waste.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3700 - Metal Processing Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Lead Or Supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Metals Dexterity and Safety WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed outside or inside that may have poor lighting and ventilation. Constantly exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, grease, oils, and cleaning agents. Working conditions include the possibility of falls, cuts, bruises, scrapes, and burns from the steam, and skin, nose, and eye irritations when working with or in close proximity to toxic chemicals such as muriatic, nitric, sulfuric acids. May be exposed to excessive heat/cold, and humidity. Must pass respirator test of 80% humidity. Exposure to dust, silica, fumes, smoke/gases, grease/oil, electric energy, slippery/uneven walking surfaces. May work around machinery, moving vehicles, and moving parts. Required to work on ladders/scaffolding and aircraft maintenance stands. Unusual fatigue factors, including; air supplied respirators. Working with hands in waters. Vibration. Required to wear safety devices as prescribed by AFOSH and other appropriate safety standards and regulations. These may require travel to other buildings on base. perform standard surface preparation by de-painting, cleaning, buffing, sanding, blasting, peening, and treating of aircraft on swings, or graveyard shifts. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
