You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the JOINT INTERMEDIATE FORCE CAPABILITIES OFFICE of HQ US MARINE CORPS.
Duties
You will perform a full range of moderately difficult to complex functional (personnel, physical, information) security duties and assignments to ensure an acceptable security posture.
You will review and maintain existing security programs to ensure relevancy, currency and thoroughness in meeting existing or evolving security mission requirements.
You will maintain various automated systems for tracking security clearance requests and current security clearance for all command personnel and visitors.
You will review automation security accreditation packages and recommend appropriate action to accreditation authority.
You will safeguard national security information with emphasis on classified or other sensitive information originated within or controlled by the command.
You will educate personnel on the required documentation based on policies established by Department of State, DoD, DoN, and local directives.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Thorough knowledge of security principles, concepts and policies; Be able to provide advice to leadership on security regulations and requirements; Working knowledge of the Defense System for Security (DISS, formerly known as JPAS) and OPM's Electronic Questionnaires for Security Positions (eQIP); Have thorough knowledge of foreign travel regulations and the DoD instructions that guide it; Ability to independently review, analyze and apply Personnel, Physical, Information, Operations, Industrial and Intelligence security directives; Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral. Demonstrated skill using Microsoft Office productivity software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and EXCEL); Knowledge of the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program.
