This position serves as a planner responsible for various airport and aviation planning activities for the Office of Airports (ARP).
Duties
FV-G Duties: Reviews airport and aviation planning documents. Coordinates findings with experienced planner or manager to ensure compliance with requirements. Performs a combination of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the general direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader or more experienced professional. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team for projects/programs within a defined area of responsibility.

- Successful completion of a security investigation will be required.

Qualifications
In addition to the basic education requirement, to qualify for this position at the:FV-G level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F, FG/GS-5/7/9 levels. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience for the FV-G level is Experience in applying planning design principles. Experience in evaluating airport planning plans, studies or reports. Experience gathering and analyzing data from a variety of sources.FV-H level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G or FG/GS-10/11 levels.Specialized Experience for the FV-H is Experience in evaluating planning plans, studies or reports. Experience in Federal Funding assistance related to airport planning rules and regulations. Experience in Airport Master Plan & Airport Layout Plan development and approval.To qualify for this position at the FV-I level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-12 level.Specialized Experience for the FV-I is Experience developing or approving airport layout plans, developing or reviewing planning consultant contracts and scopes of work, providing advisory and technical guidance to the public on airport planning, airspace, programming, airport design standards, contract administration, and in general, on all aspects of airport project implementation.You should include relevant example of specialized experience in your work history. Errors or omissions may impact your rating or may result in you not being considered.Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.NOTE: This position may be filled at the FV-G, FV-H or FV-I level; Identification of promotion in the vacancy announcement does not constitute a commitment or an obligation on the part of management to promote the employee selected at some future date. Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited U.S. educational institution in terms of equivalence to a degree acquired at an American college or university. A copy of the evaluation results must be included, otherwise your foreign education will not be considered.
To qualify for this position you must have a degree in community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance.
Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning or engineering acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner or professional engineer. OR
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
